As we approach August 21, National Senior Citizens Day gives us a special opportunity to celebrate and honor the wisdom, experience and contributions of older adults.
At McGregor, National Senior Citizens Day holds special meaning. Every McGregor resident has a unique story, a lifetime of experiences and valuable wisdom to share. Our residents are more than the years they have lived — they are parents, grandparents, veterans, professionals, caregivers, community leaders, friends and neighbors whose lives have made a difference.
💙 Ways to Celebrate a Senior on August 21

Small gestures can make a big difference. Consider:
📞 Make a phone call — Take a few minutes to call a senior and let them know you are thinking about them.
🍽️ Share a meal — Invite a senior to lunch or dinner and enjoy some meaningful conversation together.
📸 Look through old photographs — Ask about the people, places and memories behind their favorite pictures.
💬 Listen to their stories — Give them time to talk about their childhood, career, family, travels and life experiences.
📝 Write down their memories — Record their stories or help them create a family history
❤️ Give a heartfelt compliment — Tell them what you admire about them and how they have made a difference in your life.
🤝 Create an intergenerational connection — Bring children or grandchildren together with seniors to share stories, play games or learn from one another.
🎨 Do an activity together — Try a craft, puzzle, game, gardening project or another activity they enjoy.
This August 21, celebrate a senior. Listen to their story. Learn from their wisdom. Spend a little time together. Most importantly, let them know how much they are valued. ❤️
Happy National Senior Citizens Day from all of us at McGregor!
