Happy National Hispanic Heritage Month

As we celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month, I want to take a moment to recognize and honor the rich history, culture, traditions, and many contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans.

National Hispanic Heritage Month is observed each year from September 15 through October 15. The celebration began in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week, established by President Lyndon B. Johnson. In 1988, President Ronald Reagan expanded the observance to a full month, and it was signed into law as National Hispanic Heritage Month. September 15 is especially significant because it marks the independence anniversaries of several Latin American countries, including Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. Mexico celebrates its independence on September 16, followed by Chile on September 18.

This month provides an opportunity to recognize the remarkable impact Hispanic and Latino Americans have made throughout our nation’s history and continue to make today. Their contributions span virtually every aspect of American life including healthcare, education, business, government, science, the arts, military service, agriculture, technology, and community leadership.

We are especially grateful for the McGregor Hispanic and Latino team members who have helped strengthen our healthcare and senior living communities. Their dedication to caring for others, supporting families, building communities, and enriching the lives of older adults reflects values that are deeply connected to McGregor’s mission.

At McGregor, we know that our strength comes from the diverse backgrounds, experiences, perspectives, and talents of our team members. Every culture and every story contribute to the community we create together.

I encourage everyone to use this month as an opportunity to learn, celebrate, listen, and appreciate the history and experiences of Hispanic and Latino communities. Let us continue to foster an environment where everyone feels respected, valued, included, and empowered to contribute their unique gifts.

Stay tune for a listing of how McGregor will be celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month.

Thank you to all of our Hispanic and Latino team members for the many ways you contribute to McGregor and to the communities we serve.
