Simply stated, our PACE centers become a home away from home for our participants. The centers provide many services that encourage social connectivity, lifelong learning, and engagement. We provide activities that stimulate the brain and promote creativity. Participants can safely interact with one another, helping seniors to ease feelings of loneliness and isolation. They can socialize as they enjoy daily breakfast and a hot lunch.
PACE centers also provide transportation to and from the participant’s home. This means participants can safely get to and from the center all winter long without relying on a family member for pick-up and drop-off. When inclement weather hits, their daily routine of coming to the center will not be disrupted.
Convenient, High-Quality Medical Care
If a medical concern or a need for physical or occupational therapy arises, PACE participants can simply visit their center for high-quality care. It is often easier, and less costly, for participants to receive their care through PACE. They have access to highly qualified physicians who are familiar with their unique medical history and needs, can get timely appointments, and avoid any waiting in lines or crowded waiting rooms.
Our interdisciplinary team of physicians meets weekly to create a solid health care plan and ensure the continuity of care for all participants. While participants can keep their primary care physician, the interdisciplinary team at McGregor PACE includes a general practitioner, internal medicine specialists, geriatric specialists, nurse practitioners, nurses, and therapists that are all within the University Hospital’s system.
