When seniors and their family members are deciding whether to enroll in PACE, several common questions and concerns usually arise. We have highlighted several of those below, along with our answers and explanations. This is intended to ease any concerns you may have regarding PACE, as well as reassure you that PACE provides the best possible care and support for seniors.
“Will I have to change my physicians?”
We understand that the idea of changing your current physicians, especially those you have seen for many years, can be overwhelming. When you enroll in PACE, you will be able to keep your primary care physicians. However, any specialists that you see currently may change. Your medical team at PACE will handle the selection of the right specialists to address your needs. Not only do we recommend experienced and highly qualified doctors, but we cover the cost.
“What if my physical needs change after I enroll in PACE?”
Your physical needs today may be different in several months. That is why your PACE team will continually reassess your needs. If your needs change and you are not as confident in your ability to live independently at home, PACE will find a solution. For example, PACE will provide and cover the cost of a lift chair, an improved bed, a walker, or any other modification that will promote your independence and safety in your home. Again, PACE shoulders the responsibility of implementing these changes—and we cover all related expenses.
“If I eventually need to move into a facility, will I be on a long waiting list?”
If the time comes when you feel the need to move to a senior care facility, you will not go on a waiting list. As a PACE participant, you are already part of the McGregor family. Your team will help you be quickly moved into the type of facility you need, whether it is McGregor Assisted Living or The Gardens of McGregor, a nursing care facility.
