Hunger Doesn’t Just Impact the Homeless.
We Opened a Food Pantry for Employees in Need.
McGregor PACE is proud to announce that we have opened up a new food pantry designed to help those who work for our facility. It’s hard to believe that sometimes employees that come to your workplace every day are struggling with hunger, but it is a very real problem. Take a look at some of these statistics:
- “In 2017, more than 40 million people struggled with hunger in the U.S.” (dosomething.org)
- “Nearly 1 in 7 households with children cannot afford to buy enough food for their families.” (www.whyhunger.org)
- “1 in 4 people who are food insecure are unlikely to qualify for most federal nutrition programs.” (www.whyhunger.org)
These stats are eye opening and show that hunger is not just a problem for the homeless or unemployed. Hunger impacts working people, like our staff at McGregor PACE, every day. Our pantry is located at our Forest Hill location and is available to all of our staff as well as McGregor residents, but it is not open to the general public. It is staffed by McGregor employees and is stocked with food and toiletry items. Our mission is to ensure that no family goes hungry under our watch, and we are committed to making that vision a reality!
