McGregor PACE Recognizes Nursing Professionals
Celebrating How Nurses Create and Nurture Connections
May is an important month of recognition for our country’s nurses. Not only do we celebrate National Nurses Week beginning on May 6, 2022 but from May 8–14, 2022, the American Health Care Association (AHCA) leads National Skilled Nursing Week. All nurses are valued, no matter their area of expertise or where they work, but we are grateful for this opportunity to recognize the nurses who work in skilled nursing care settings.
In the last two years, the pandemic has put a spotlight on the critical work of our nation’s skilled nursing care professionals. As the world locked down in March 2020, nurses in senior care communities stepped in to meet the physical, mental, and social needs of older adults. These dedicated individuals not only performed their job duties but went above and beyond to make sure older adults had the essential social connections they needed to combat loneliness and depression. Our nurses play such an important role in the field of aging services, and they devote themselves to their patients and residents—often without praise or recognition.
This week, we want them to hear a resounding, “Thank you!” from their community. Here are a few ideas for showing appreciation to nurses, whether they provide in-home care for a parent or loved one, treated you during a recent doctor’s visit, or cared for you following a surgical procedure:
Write a handwritten note or film a short video expressing your gratitude.
Order a delicious meal to be delivered for nurses to enjoy on their break.
Bring them a basket of healthy and energy-boosting snacks.
Send a restaurant or coffee shop gift card.
Say “Thank you.”
We believe that, above all, our nurses deserve an acknowledgment of their hard work and dedication.
