The Burden on Family Caregivers

Are You an Unpaid Family Caregiver?

McGregor PACE Can Offer Relief and Support

A report from AARP last spring shed light on the work of unpaid family caregivers across the country. There are about 38 million caregivers—about 11.5 percent of the total population— providing an average of 18 hours of care per week. This multiplied equals 36 billion hours of care.

In Ohio alone, there are approximately 1.46 family caregivers. If you are the primary caregiver for an aging parent or loved one, you may run the gamut of emotions every day: stress, relief, joy, fear, anxiety, or sadness. While it may bring you joy to spend time caring for your loved one, you may fear and question how long you will be able to meet their needs without professional intervention.

We are here to tell you that there is a better way: You can continue to spend time with your loved one—and make more joyful memories—while allowing a team of professionals to step in and provide support, guidance, and medical supervision. McGregor PACE exists to help older adults in Cuyahoga County age in place while ensuring their mental, physical, and social needs are met.

You get the peace of mind that your loved one is being cared for and supported so you can focus more time on your own needs, work obligations, family responsibilities, or simply activities and travel that you enjoy. We invite you to learn more about our comprehensive services for seniors—using a community-based approach—and reach out to our team to learn more.
