Why COVID-19 Changed the Health Care Industry

How McGregor PACE Continues to Meet the Needs of Cleveland Seniors

The health care industry—and the world of senior care—is filled with many challenges, obstacles, and questions on a daily basis. When you throw a global pandemic into the mix, those hurdles get higher and more difficult to jump. As noted by the American Hospital Association, COVID-19 has exposed the vulnerabilities of health care organizations in the U.S. and across the globe on very critical issues like safety, infrastructure, equipment, and the availability of data.

This challenging time has also united many of us—in the health care and senior care industries and beyond—in new and impactful ways. As health care providers quickly realized that their own capabilities and supply lines would not be enough to carry on through the pandemic, many businesses and organizations answered the call, delivering resources and additional capacity when it was critically needed.

McGregor PACE is among those organizations that have benefited from the support of others to continue to provide our high level of services to 700 seniors in Cuyahoga County. We have had to lean on our existing colleagues and form new partnerships in the industry to bridge the gaps in our services and resources. For example, we continue to work with LeadingAge Ohio, a nonprofit trade organization that represents approximately 400 long-term care organizations and hospices, as well as those providing ancillary health care and housing services, in more than 150 Ohio towns and cities. Leading Age Ohio’s mission is to advance solutions for exceptional care and successful living—a mission that all of us at McGregor PACE share.

We are grateful for all of our partners who champion the services we provide to Cleveland area seniors and allowed us to continue our services undisrupted during the pandemic. As we look forward to this pandemic easing and life returning much like it was before, we are thankful for the new partnerships forged during this challenging time. We will continue to grow and foster these relationships for the benefit of our PACE program seniors.
