Elyria Community Presentation
The importance of sexual health across all stages of life will be the focus of an upcoming community presentation titled “What’s Love Got To Do With It? Safe Sex at Any Age Matters!” on Tuesday, May 19, from 2 – 4 p.m. at McGregor PACE, 570 Leona St., Elyria, Ohio.
The discussion will be led by Judy Pulito, BSN, MSN, EdD, who brings 35 years of experience as a nursing professor and leader at Lorain County Community College to the discussion. Pulito now works as a community outreach coordinator and health educator, focusing on public awareness and prevention with Family Planning Services of Lorain County, and will address the often overlooked topic of sexual health among older adults.
Pulito’s presentation will emphasize that safe sex practices remain essential regardless of age, challenging common misconceptions that sexual health concerns diminish later in life. She will highlight the importance of open communication between partners, routine sexual health screenings, and awareness of sexually transmitted infections.
“Love and intimacy don’t come with an expiration date,” says Pulito, “but they should always be accompanied by responsibility and informed decision-making.”
Recent research from the American Medical Association shows that sexually transmitted infections (STI’s) for adults 65 and older have more than doubled in the U.S. in the last decade, highlighting STI’s as an increasing concern in geriatric care.
The event is free and open to the public, with complimentary parking available. Light refreshments will be provided.
