Spread Positivity During the New Year
Embrace a Spirit of Gratitude
How often do we get so caught up in our daily responsibilities that we end up on autopilot? We do not take the time to slow down and be aware of the impact we have on those around us. In the new year, we can all challenge ourselves to stop, be more mindful, and commit to showing more appreciation and gratitude throughout the day.
Here are a few simple ways to show appreciation:
- Send cards to senior care staff. The holiday season, especially in the middle of a pandemic, can be a challenging time for all health care professionals. Send a handwritten note to the staff at a parent’s care facility or to the local PACE senior day center in your neighborhood. Cards can be addressed to volunteer services or simply to the staff. There is power in expressing appreciation through a handwritten note.
- Start saying, “Thank you.” No matter the interaction, take time to pause, make eye contact, and thank someone. These moments of connection are so important, especially as we continue to wear masks and interact with each other from a distance or behind a plexiglass barrier. Our interactions with others, however brief, can still be meaningful, and a small thank you can have a lasting impact on someone’s day.
- Express gratitude for your employees. All of us want to feel appreciated. This holiday season, let your employees or colleagues know that you are grateful for their unique contributions to your company or organization. So many employees, especially in non-profit organizations, give their time, spirit, and energy endlessly. Do not take others for granted. Instead, make it a habit to express gratitude.
We hope you will embrace a spirit of gratitude and appreciation in the new year. In the meantime, if the McGregor PACE team can provide any support to you or your loved one in the Cleveland area, please reach out to our team.
